If the lecturer has asked you to join a channel meeting or breakout room you must navigate to the team and channel yourself as you won't see this in your calendar. This article will guide you through joining a channel meeting or breakout room. This only applies if the lecturer has setup the breakout room channels.
Step 1.
Ensure you are using the Teams application, open the teams app and click on the teams icon on the left hand side. This will open up all the teams linked to your account and should match the modules on your Moodle. Each module will have a Team.
Step 2.
Open the Team associated with the class your currently in, for example if you are currently in the online class for the Career Development and Employability module then you would select that Team. As mentioned already the name of the Team will match your Modules in Moodle, be sure to click the correct one.
Step 3.
Now inside the Team under the class name you will see a list of channels on the left hand side. The lecturer will inform you of what group you are in, if you are in group A then left click on Group A to access the channel meeting or breakout room.
Step 4.
Usually your lecturer will tell one member of the group to start the meeting, it's important that you don't start another meeting if one is already taking place. Below will explain how to identify if a meeting has already been started.
How will i know if a meeting has already been started by another member of the channel/breakout room?
If another member has entered the channel meeting or breakout room and started the meeting already you will see a little camera symbol beside the channel/breakout room name. See below image.
Once inside the channel/breakout room you can join a meeting that has already been started by clicking Join, you will see this in the conversation section of the channel.
If a meeting has not been started how do I start one?
If you arrive in the channel/breakout room before other members and the meeting has not been started you can start it by clicking on the Meet button (top right). You will be brought into a new meeting within that channel.
